Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez will lock horns with the undisputed light middleweight champion Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas on September 30,
The announcement was made by the super middleweight champion on social media on Friday.
Alvarez, who owns all four belts in his division, shared a picture of the pair on Twitter with the caption 'Undisputed vs Undisputed'.
The Mexican, widely considered the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world, last fought on May 6, when he overpowered British boxer John Ryder to notch up his 59th victory in 63 professional fights.
However, the aforementioned fight will mean that Charlo's anticipated clash with Australian Tim Tszyu won’t take place ahead of a deadline imposed on the American by the World Boxing Organisation and the 33-year-old could lose his belt as a result.
Charlo last fought in May 2022 when he registered a 10th round knockout of Argentina's Brian Castano in California.
